7th Annual Brisbane Multicultural festival!

Last Sunday, Dean and myself enjoyed what seemed to be the best day Brisbane has experienced weather-wise for months now. There was no better place to be on sunday than the Roma Street Parklands as it was converted into a sensory-overload of sounds, sights and smells.  What better place to be ticking-off international cuisines than that?!

Immediately upon entering the parklands we found the macaroon stand.

What you see above is a picture perfect example of how to make a macaroon; A crisp outer shell, a gooey inside and a flavorsome inside. We tried the violet and coconut macaroon varieties.

Up next was the Spanish stand. We tried the tasting plate that consisted of Spanish potato salad; a chickpea, chorizo, capsicum and mint salad; and marinated chicken with mint yoghurt on a bed of couscous. Buena Comida!

Next we had the Hungarian snap-fried bread known as Lángos, topped with garlic, sour-cream and cheese. Screw New-york Slice or the L.N.L.S. (Late Night Lamb Sandwich), this is the midnight food king.

I feel bad because I have forgotten the name of this Japanese meal. It's a steamed rice cake with soy sauce dripping through it plus a seasoning of sesame seeds. So awesome on it's own, plus you can get blow-torched cheese on the top if you please.

Finally, we had some greek honey puffs to round out the day. This was by far the longest line of the day, and for good reason. Might I recommend a nice scoop of vanilla ice-cream to complete this?
